Dear canoe friends,

Those who cruise along the Zaan will see more than windmills and old and modern factories. Hundreds of wooden houses are in evidence, their highly decorated facades facing the River Zaan, along which major traffic has been passing for centuries. The Zaan Region represents a typical Dutch landscape, below sea level and interspaced by thousands of ditches and meadows. In this unique area a unique event has been taking place for over 40 years.

Uniqueness
The uniqueness of the event lies in the fact that it will take place on open water in the centre of Zaandam. Traffic will be re-routed, so safety will be guaranteed for participants, companions and spectators.

Therefore we have the pleasure to invite you to participate in the:

International Zaanregatta, 7 and 8th June 2008

This year the competition will consist of Country teams as well as Club teams for Juniors and Seniors.
The following distances will be raced in the competition:

• K1: 200, 500 and 3000/5000m
• K2: 200 and 500m
• K4: 200 and 500m

Because we are sponsered by the county we can offer a bonus to teams who will join the race. We offer a 100 euro starting fee to any team which comes from abroad with 10 or more competitors. This to compensate some of your expenses. This year duo to sponsering we are also able to award the winners of the finales of all the categories with price money. All age groups are able to win price money, depending on how old they are:

The price money for the following klasses are: (given to the number 3, 2 and the winner of the finale_)

Pupillen (10 or younger): 10euro , 15euro, 25euro (3,2,1)
Aspiranten B (age 10/11): 10euro, 15euro, 25euro (3,2,1)
Aspiranten A (age 12/13): 10euro, 15euro, 25euro (3,2,1)
juniors B (age 14/15): 25euro, 50euro, 75euro (3,2,1)
juniors A (age 16/17): 25euro, 50euro, 75euro (3,2,1)

Seniors (women) 50euro 75 euro 150 euro (3,2,1)
Seniors (men 75 euro ,125 euro , 250 Euro (3,2,1)

WARNING: There won´t be any C-boat races at the Zaanregatta !

Staying Over

It is possible to stay over on or around the club accommodation. If you wish to stay in a hotel we can arrange an accomodation for you as well, or you can camp near the boat house of De Geuzen.
